Set Me Free

Phonat aka Michele Balduzzi started off as a hip-hop producer, and was heavily influenced by the East Coast bands like Wu-Tang Clan, Gangstarr and The Beastie Boys. In 2001, Phonat turned towards electronic music after being inspired by the likes of Cassius, Motorbass and Daft Punk. He begin producing electro house music and was recognized by DJ Mag in 2005. Ever since then, Michele has been in the studio developing some pretty hot electro house grooves. Music video made by the Twothings.

Smooth Aces (A Tribute To Michael Jackson)

I'm not into Michael Jackson remixes just cause they don't need to be. But I came across this track from Poka vs. The Disko Starz in their new collaboration album Peace & Love EP. I gotta say I fell in love with this song right into the first 5 seconds. Sampling Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal", these  guys got just the right amount out of it without killing the song. I'm already using it on my sets ;)

Seagate FreeAgent Theater

Seagate built this second-gen FreeAgent Theater+ to be equally Mac and PC friendly, and to decode any video file you throw at it, regardless of resolution, framerate or other variable. Despite a crappy interface, the mission is a genuine success.

This Wireless Subwoofer Is Too Nice for Humanity

High-end subwoofers? Very common. Wireless subwoofers? They're around. High-end wireless subwoofers? Rare. Rare like leprechauns riding unicorns. The KEF HTB2SE-W wireless sub combines two well-reviewed products (a KEF subwoofer and their 2.4GHz wireless transmission system) into one very expensive-looking (and costing) package. The HTB2SE-W ships next month for $1200. And on a completely unrelated note, there's gotta be some charity out there that needs $1200 more than you need a fancy wireless subwoofer.

Korean designer Ji Young Shon has created the Stand 1/4 lights.

The lights come in floor and table versions, and are designed to eliminate the amount of space
that a normal light would require....Kool.

Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars

Bag Raiders diverge a little from their previous sound of scale-happy synth usage and heavy electro guitar flair (think a clever mix between Futurecop! and MSTRKRFT) to bring you a bonafide euphoric listening experience in Shooting Stars (Directed by Ron Winter). With a hook and lyrics that are more addictive than cocaine, the song features nothing but sunshine and more sunshine wrapped in sunshine.

Curb Your Enthusiasm Season Premiere

After years of being hounded by fans and asked about a possible Seinfeld reunion, it appears that Larry David has finally decided to make it happen... but only within the fictional world of his show Curb Your Enthusiasm! With the seventh season premiering September 20th on HBO, Larry David recently revealed that the season will feature a continuing plot thread that involves Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Richards all playing themselves as the network organizes a Seinfeld reunion TV special. Bottom line is that Larry is a genius at what he does and I will always be a fan of his work.

That New York Look (circa 1969)

Forty-year-old fashion! Vernon Merritt III captured New York’s summer fashions for the August 22, 1969 issue of Life:

"New York City is a costume party for the young this summer, a party that is taking place outdoors, on the streets, and in the parks. Long hair, long legs. The party is not always elegant, but it is completely alive. It isn’t really hard to tell the boys from the girls, even when they are both in bell-bottoms, and of course most boys don’t put shoe polish on their eyes. All are wearing what they want to wear, from the shortest skirts to the longest skins. How they look depends partly on where they go. The ferry is different from a Seventh Avenue lunch stand—and very different from Central Park. The look is not what New York calls sophisticated, but even so, it catches the eye. Many of the girls seem to get their kicks with makeup. They wear it anywhere—absolutely anywhere. The important thing is to express yourself. Depending on your talents you can do it with a 25-key soprano Melodica or a long cool stare. You choose. The New York look is a daily celebration of the self."
